Inspired by recently seeing Rico Tubbs play a live set, I want to introduce him to those who have not yet discovered the Finnish don and his talent by throwing up a couple of his tunes, old and new.
I was first introduced to Rico Tubbs over a year ago when I copped one of his most famous tracks: ‘Gangsters’ over at Pelskis Blog.
Gangsters is a fat remix that makes good use of the famous vocal from Nas’ – Where Ya’ll At.
Tubbs completely turned it on its head and introduced one of the fattest wobbliest basslines around at the time.

Next is Flashlighter, this is another of Tubbs’ earlier works and has a big disco feel with bells and claps. The bassline is not as wompy and dominant as the Tubbs I am used to but it will give you an idea of how he has progressed.

First known to me as “Cutty” this track got a rename and was released as Lumberjack. This is pure madness, featuring buzzing basslines and big bmore breaks with ragga vocals laid over to good effect. This is one of my favorite tunes from Tubbs.

Finally I have a brilliant remix of a timeless classic, Rhythm is a Dancer.
Tubbs has made use of the original song for this, then made the vocal dive into a crazy loop until it drops into an oblivion of Tubbs bass. Highly Recommended!
